SEATTLE (October 13, 2008) – Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in enterprise master person index (EMPI) and record locator services (RLS) solutions, announced today that it will host a panel presentation on the topic “NHIN2: Working Toward a National Health Information Network” at 4:45 p.m. PDT on Monday, October 13, 2008 during the 80th annual American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Convention and Exhibit at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

Moderating the panel is Lorraine Fernandes, vice president and healthcare industry ambassador, Initiate Systems. Presenters on this timely topic are W. Holt Anderson, executive director, North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc. (NCHICA) and Laura Landry, executive director, Long Beach Network for Health. Each presenter represents an organization that is among the NHIN2 awardees.

The NHIN2 demonstration projects currently are underway to help build a National Health Information Network. These projects examine privacy, security, consent, authentication and identification of patient data, as well as health information exchange, which all are key issues in health information management. The panel presentation will review the status of NHIN2, share preliminary findings from the demonstration projects and review expected outcomes.
