Chicago (November 8, 2005) - Initiate Systems, Inc., the leading provider of software for creating the most complete real-time views of data about people, households and organizations, today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has licensed its software to improve identity management and facilitate increased safety for the millions of veterans receiving healthcare through the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) extensive network of 1,300 healthcare providers.
"The VA is one of the largest healthcare providers and one of the most advanced healthcare IT organizations in the world. We are thrilled to have them as a customer," said Bill Conroy, Initiate’s president and CEO. "The combination of Initiate Identity Hub™ software and the VA's existing Master Person Index system will enhance patient satisfaction and safety by enabling the VHA to improve its ability to search and locate complete patient information in real time throughout the healthcare delivery network."
The VHA operates the nation’s largest integrated health care system, providing care to more than 4.9 million patients, who had more than 54 million outpatient visits in 2004. The VHA's own Master Person Index (MPI) system provides enterprise-wide patient identity services by correlating patient information residing in disparate IT systems throughout all VHA facilities. Initiate Identity Hub™ software will be used to enhance the VHA's MPI, which houses 12 million entries and is expected to quickly grow to more than 25 million entries. Initiate’s software will also be used to assist the VA in accurately and efficiently identifying shared records, as individuals move from active duty into the VHA system.
Initiate Identity Hub™ software is the most accurate, scalable and rapidly implemented enterprise master person index solution available for healthcare providers, integrated delivery networks and regional health information organizations that want to improve patient identification and customer satisfaction, protect data privacy and security, enable interoperability and provide a critical foundation for electronic health record implementations. More than 50 healthcare organizations have deployed Initiate Identity Hub™ software and more than 600 have relied on Initiate Systems for patient data remediation services.
