The challenges faced by Homeland Security, particularly at border crossings, are large. Border crossing agents need to be able to collect information, search across many different data sources, and identify known or suspected persons of interest. And they must be able to do this quickly and accurately so they can help enhance national security without impeding legitimate trade or travel, or infringing on individual’s rights to privacy.
