Initiate software as an interface to the RHIO
For healthcare providers or organizations that prefer the second option of integration, Initiate software provides an excellent tool for managing the data exchange between internal systems and the RHIO.
This model allows the organization to support the RHIO by providing a search portal insulated from the organization’s clinical systems. This approach has several advantages for the provider organization.
- Removes the need to send complete demographic information for all patients to the RHIO.
- Allows the organization to keep the access audit record locally. This allows them to track what patients have been requested via the RHIO.
- Presents a single view of the patient regardless of how many records the organization actually maintains for the patient (ambulatory, acute, laboratory, etc.). Since it is dynamic, this view may be modified by the organization at any time.
- Provides a single point for the provider organization to manage patient opt-in/opt-out preference.
- Can support multiple access permissions (if supported by the calling RHIO). As an example, the provider organization may chose to make more information automatically available if the requestor is an emergency-room physician than if the requestor is a family physician.
- Supports the RHIO with enterprise-strength (24/7), real-time throughput, and multiple access protocols.
In addition the provider organization receives all the advantages of the Initiate EMPI, namely point-of-service search capability, real-time duplicate detection, record management workflow tools, and reporting and analytics.
